Named for its orange-grey colony colouration, this species is frequently isolated from soil and decaying organic matter. Indoors, it can establish on damp wood, wallpaper, or plasterboard, releasing spores that may incite allergies or respiratory discomfort. As with most Penicillium species, controlling humidity and fixing structural leaks are critical to preventing its colonisation.
