Recognised microscopically by its curved, crescent-shaped spores, C. lunata is often found in grasses, cereals, and in poorly ventilated, damp indoor areas. Rarely, it can cause sinus infections or skin lesions, particularly in individuals with weakened immune systems. Proper ventilation, along with immediate attention to water intrusions or leaks, typically prevents significant indoor colonisation.
