Formerly classified in the genus Gliocladium, now generally Trichoderma virens, it is used commercially as a biocontrol agent. In water-damaged buildings, it can appear as greenish colonies on plaster or wood. Although not particularly virulent toward humans, it releases spores that may trigger mild respiratory issues. Correcting water intrusions and thoroughly drying materials typically curtail its proliferation.
