An immune-mediated lung disorder triggered by inhalation of organic antigens, such as mould spores in damp homes or agricultural settings. Acute cases can present within hours of exposure (fever, chills, cough, shortness of breath), while chronic exposure can lead to permanent lung scarring. Reducing contact with the offending mould source (e.g. repairing water damage) and using corticosteroids are often part of management.
