This parasitic fungus typically infects mushrooms outdoors (such as boletes). While rarely encountered inside, it can grow on organic debris under very humid conditions. It is not typically regarded as a household mould problem. Most indoor sightings occur when decaying forest debris is accidentally introduced (e.g., firewood). Good housekeeping and ensuring that stored wood is well-dried reduces the risk of its establishment indoors.
