Often dubbed “grey mould,” B. cinerea is notorious for infecting fruits (e.g. grapes, strawberries) and ornamental plants. Indoors, it flourishes on neglected or rotting produce kept in humid conditions. Though generally a mild allergen, its prolific sporulation can degrade air quality. Ensuring fresh produce is used promptly, disposing of spoiled items, and keeping humidity moderate will curtail its indoor spread.
