Among the most common outdoor moulds, C. cladosporioides easily enters buildings via open windows or doors, subsequently growing on walls, fabrics, and even HVAC systems if moisture is available. Colonies often appear as dark-green to black patches with a velvety texture. Its spores can cause allergic reactions, particularly in individuals with asthma. Prompt cleaning of visible mould and managing humidity levels are effective strategies to minimise its spread.
