Not to be confused with Aspergillus flavus, this fungus produces yellowish colonies, particularly on lab media. In the wild, T. flavus is often found in soil and compost heaps but may colonise damp structural materials if humidity is high. Potential health effects are generally mild for healthy people, but controlling indoor moisture and ventilating spaces well remain key to inhibiting growth.
