A subset of sinusitis marked by significant allergic inflammation to fungi. Patients often have thick, eosinophil-laden mucus and high IgE levels. Sinus CT scans may show characteristic “metallic” densities from fungal elements. Surgical removal of impacted mucus, plus medical therapies (steroids, antifungals), aim to relieve obstruction and reduce inflammatory reactions.
