Bronchiectasis involves permanent dilation of parts of the airways, often with chronic infection or inflammation. Mould spores can exacerbate symptoms (chronic sputum production, recurring infections), particularly if they colonise damaged lung tissue. Ensuring good airway clearance techniques, reducing environmental mould, and following a specialist’s advice (e.g. physiotherapy, antibiotics) is key to managing bronchiectasis.
